Two slits

Return to the Main Page
This experiment allows you to watch the interference and diffraction all at once. The distribution of the intensity in the screen is a combination of the obtained results by the diffraction of one slit and the interference of two slits.

To try to simulate this experiment with the same previous tools we assume that the slit is formed by a lot of punctual sources (N).

We get the interference pattern on a screen parallel to the line of the punctual sources and far from them.

Scheme of the simulation

A: size of the slit, in nanometers.
D: distance between slits, in nanometers.
l: wavelength of the light, in nanometers.
Y: central interval of the screen that we observe, in centimeters.
L: distance between the slits and the screen, in meters. (L >= 1)

We can change these parameters with the window of settings of the experiment when we do a simulation.
